At first it's a very generic perfume smell, with something...else that I can't quite put my finger on.
As it dries it becomes a slightly spicey amber musk with just a hint of citrus tea and something floral.
I think I really like this one and I'm glad I got a bottle. It semlls a bit more sophisticated on me than the other oils I tend to wear, but it's nice having something different. I have a feeling I will use this more during cool weather than in the summer.
Wet, it's a very hot, humid, tropical floral scent with something very earthy mixed in. As it dries down, my skin really begins to amp the amber. It becomes less tropical and takes on a more perfumey scent and ah yes, there is the powder making an appearance. My wonkychemistry strikes again.
I think this would be lovely in my locket, so I'll try that before deciding whether or not I need a bottle. It's doubtful because I can really see reaching for my Caliban or Manila before this when I need something hot and summery, but we'll see.
Didn't intend on trying this yet, but the Lab sent me a surprise imp of this. So of course, I had to try some and I got it all over my hand. LOL
At first it is very sharp and very masculine, but as it dries it's a mix of yummy aquatic and something green. I had thought this would be mostly for hubby, but I'm finding I really like it for myself too.
Can't wait to try this on him though. I have a feeling I won't be able to keep my hands off.
Hubby tried this (I knew right awayit would be better for him, lol).
At first it smell like the rain incense we used to have. yum! As it dried it became darker and smokier. I love the cedarwood I can smell and the patchouli is just right. The cinnamon is very faint, but it's a truer cinnamon as opposed to the sweet candy cinnamon.
It's very nice on him, I have a feeling I'll be sniffing him for the rest of the night.
This is an interesting one.
At first it's all woods, but as it dries the fig comes out and sweetens it. Not getting any of the cocoa.
I do like it, though I doubt I'll get a bottle. I am glad I got to try the imp.
So today I seem to be revisiting bottles (of hubby's ) that haven't been opened in a looong time.
I did not have high hopes because I remember this being to masculine, but what the heck, I have to shower anyways. LOL
Oh wow, I was wrong. On me this is straight up spicy dark vanilla with a touch of earthiness. It's gorgeous.
I am so happy we kept the bottle and I can't wait to see how it is on hubby.
Oh wow. wow wow wow wow wow wow wow
I doubt I would've tried this, but luckily I got a frimp from a super sweet someone. At first it is warm with a light insense feel to it, but then it starts to sweeten and the spice comes up. It's smokey and spicy and sweet and sexy all in one. I love that it has a touch of sweetness without being foody. And thankfully, my wonky skin chemstry keeps this beautiful and it doesn't go all wrong on me. I can't wait to try it in my locket and I will most defnitely be getting multiple bottles of this one!
Wow, something with rose in it that doesn't immediately go old lady on me.
At first it's mostly warm gardenias but as it dries, I catch a hint of the tea and perhaps amber? I'm not getting much of the patchouli or rose (thank god).
This is a very warm seductive floral. I think I really like it and I will definately be keeping my imps of it. Not sure on a bottle yet.
Ok, so I knew this wouldn't be for me so I had hubby try it.
It smells like leather, cinnamon, clove. rotted hay, and butt. Seriously. It smells like someone is tryint to cover up a funk with something really nice. Hubby said it reminds him of the horses at Busch Gardens.
It was almost good.
Wet: Wow, COCOA with a hint of incense. Not sure about this one.
Drying: the leather is coming out with a hint of the flowers. Not much of the patchouli. This is starting to remind me of a smoking room: deep, rich, slightly sweet but very good pipe tobacco and leather.
Not sure if I would wear this, I'll try it again, but I'm defaintely going to have hubby try this one!
In the imp and on my fingers it's a very pretty, musky vanilla.
Wet on my wrists: Holy cow, LILAC! Wow, where did my wonderful vanilla and musk go? Where's my COCONUT???
Drying: Ah, thank you lilac for quieting down. You know, you really don't have to scream to be heard. And there is my coconut barely whispering to me and my vanilla and musk are coming out of hiding.
Dry: It's beautiful. Really. Everything has blended nicely and keeps slightly shifting. Very sexy and feminine, without being girly, trashy, or too sophisticated. I'm getting a bottle.
Oh wow, I love this!
In the bottle it was a sweet, fruity, almost candy/bubblegum scent.
On my skin it blends into this beautiful, lush tropical scent. Finally, a blend where the ylang ylang doesn't take over! It isn't too floral, with just the right about of fruitiness, and as it dries something a bit green keeps this from going to sweet.
In my locket it is delicious, but in a completely different way. It is brighter and more fruity and just a bit more bubblegum smelling.
I absolutely LOVE it! Now I just need to track down more!
In the bottle: Very sweet coconut
Wet: I catch a hint of floral and aquatic coming out. Very nice. Reminds me of the beach.
Drydown: oddly, it smells wonderful on my one wrist but on the other it smells a bit...plastic? I think I'll have to wash it off the one and try again.
Other than my one weird wrist, I really really like this. Assuming the odd scent doesn't reappear, I will be getting a bottle of this. What a perfect summer scent!
ETA: Tried it again and it made me a bit sick. It had this weird toasted plastic smell. I really wanted this to work, but sadly, no.
I've had this for a long time now. (I believe I got it when it was first released) I never really tried it (I don't think) because not long after I got it I got pregnant and omg, the morning sickness kicked in.
So I kept going back recently, sniffing the bottle and thinking, ewww...this is going to be way too sweet, why did I keep it?
I am so glad I did!
Wet: A fizzy, sweet lime drink. Oh wow, this is yummy though I'm not sure I want to smell like this for long.
Drying down: mmmm.....it calms down. The lime goes into the background and out comes this sweet spicy slightly boozey cookie scent. I'm not a foodie person but this smells awesome.
Dried: It's a spiced sugar with just the barest hint of tobacco.
I love this and I'm sooooo happy I never got rid of the bottle. I have a feeling this will get worn a lot once the cooler weather rolls in.
ETA: As it dries down further a bit more of the tobacco comes out, but in a good way. It really balances out the sugar to keep it from becoming to sweet.
hmmmm.....smells like a nice upscale perfume. Something like my mother used to wear, only a bit sweeter. I was a bit disappointed because in the bottle I got lots of lime-y??? goodness, but absolutely none on my skin.
The vanilla musk comes out very nicely as it dries, along with the honey and something herbal. Also, a little powdery, but something there is keeping it from turning to complete powder on me.
I'm glad I got to try it and most likely I'll keep the imp that was generously gifted to me, but I haven't yet decided on a bottle. I'll have to try it a couple more times. I'm also very interested to see how it will work in a locket.
OK, I've been having bad luck with just about anything that isn't aquatic or tropical. Most spicey muck scent are going straight to funky incense.
But not this! This is definately a sensual scent, all spice and musk. It does take on a slightly powdery scent on me, but not at all in a bad way. I love it!
Wet it's a very sharp scent, almost too sharp with a little softness lurking.
Dry the soft florals come out more. On me it's a rather traditional perfume scent. Not bad, but not exactly me. Strangely though, I keep sniffing my wrists. Oddly, on my right wrist it is still sharper smelling than on my left, though I apply it to my left.
I might keep the imp, but it's unlikely I would buy the bottle.
At first it's rather sharp, but as it dries it starts to soften, but the sharpness lingers just enough to add something interesting to the scent. Reminds me of when I lived near the beach and there was approaching storm in the distance and the air was charged and salty and a bit sweet.
It's very nice, though I think it might actually smell better on hubby. I'll have to try it on him and then decide about a bottle. I'm also worried that it will end up turning to soap on me, we'll see.....
Wet: Very masculine cologne. Luckily it doesn't last too long.
Drying: Once again, smells different on each of my wrists. My right wrist amps the musk, my left amps the patchouli. The florals are beginning to come out, as is the sandalwood.
Not getting any of the yuzu or lime. I think the lavender may be lurking underneath it all, but it's more of an impression.
It's a really lovely scent, though I think it might be better suited for hubby. Can't wait to try it out on him!
Ooooh, I like this one.
The coconut and musk were stronger when I first applied it, but then they faded and I catch a hint of the hazelnut and iris. I still smell the musk in the background, I just wish the coconut lasted longer.
I'm glad I got a bottle and can't wait to see what it's like once the weather warms up.
Ow, that is really really strong at first. And it's a very perfumey scent. Not liking it so much wet.
As it's drying down, ew, it's not changing much. I'm not getting any of the grapefruit. It just smells like some bad perfume I tried years ago. Maybe it would work better with hubby's chemistry becuase it's just not working with mine.
Wet: mmmm...a nice warm woody rose. Not at all the fake rose perfume scent.
As it dries the sandalwood and patchouli start to make an appearance, but not overwhelming.
This is actually a very nice blend. I like that it doesn't end up smelling old lady or too powdery/soapy.
Very happy I got the imp, but will have to try it a few more times before deciding on a bottle.
ETA: Well, after a while of wearing this, I guess I was wrong. Dh said it smells like his grandmother. Definately will not be keeping.
